The Light At The End of the Tunnel
I am looking forward to the end of the strict curfews. The end of the strict rules would also be great. Transitos (police) are still checking to make sure people wear their masks and they are also looking for any other violations they can find. For example, having too many people in a vehicle or having someone sit on the passenger side of a vehicle when that person should be in the back seat. It is not people before profit but profit before people. The government is the only one making a profit. Many businesses are still suffering or completely ruined. Thank goodness our favorite Japanese restaurant, Bento Japanese Lunchbox located in Cuenca, is still in business. Just like many other businesses, they are working hard to stay afloat.
On Saturday, September 5th, we had the people from Bento Japanese Lunchbox restaurant make lunch for us. Wilson Suquitana of Paute joined us for lunch. They made karaage (Japanese Fried Chicken), sushi rice, stir-fried vegetables, beef teriyaki, and sushi. Everything was delicious. My homemade lemonade was also a big hit. To show our appreciation, we took everyone on a hike around our property. It was nice to forget about all of the problems that this "pandemic" that is not even real is causing. Yes, people die but not of COVID 19. They die of a lack of proper medical care. That being said, we look forward to having Japanese food at our house again around Valentine's Day 2021 which is also Carnaval. Until then, we are looking forward to the day when no masks are required so we can "breathe again".
