Chordeleg and Laguna del Sol

Yesterday, on my fifty-first birthday, Randy, Kobe, and I visited the town of Chordeleg, Azuay, Ecuador.  It's a scenic town forty-five minutes outside of Cuenca.

We took a bus from the bus station in Cuenca (Terminal Terrestre Cuenca).  Chordeleg has many jewelry shops.  There seems to be more jewelry shops than any other type of business.

The walk around town was scenic.  There is a plaza with a Roman Catholic church and the stairs (Escalinatas Flavio Barrio).  For lunch, we ate at at restaurant that serves broiled chicken, Asador.  Delicious food for a low price.

We stayed in Chordeleg for two hours and took the bus back home.  It was a fun way to celebrate my birthday.

One of the days we'll visit the outskirts of Chordeleg.

Today we (Randy and I) visited a suburb of Cuenca, Laguna del Sol.  There are many houses in the community as well as tiendas, a play area for children, a basketball court, a Taekwondo studio, and a marsh.  Available houses are plentiful.  It was nice seeing the different animals:  dogs, cows, and sheep.  We took the city bus to Laguna del Sol.  We will return on Monday afternoon  with Kobe because a friend of ours lives in this suburb.  The city bus will take us once again to this suburb on Monday.

Before visiting Laguna del Sol, Randy and I ate at the Chilean restaurant, La Villa del Cobil.  Great empanadas.  Randy had the carne empanada and I had the ham and cheese empanada.  We like this restaurant so much I created a fan page: La Villa Del Cobil.

Visiting different parts of the providence of Azuay and Ecuador makes me want to be an Ecuadorian citizen even more.  Even though he is still undecided, he still enjoys visiting different cities and towns here in Ecuador.  Kobe receives a an excellent education by seeing different parts of Ecuador.
