While Waiting To Qualify To Apply For Ecuadorian Citizenship In 2018, I'm Enjoying Life Living In Ecuador
The good news is I have no shortage of things to do here in Cuenca, Azuay, Ecuador. One downside of keeping busy in a good way is less time to update this blog as frequently as I'd like. On the other hand, if I updated as frequently as I'd like, I wouldn't have as much to say because I would be here all of the time and have nothing new to say or show.
Another way to keep up with me is on my Facebook. I update my Facebook daily with photos and sometimes videos of Ecuador.
I did find out something interesting about Afro-Ecuadorians here in Cuenca: they are 6% of Cuenca's population and around 20,000 of them live in Cuenca. To find out more about Afro-Ecuadorians, I created a group page (Afro-Ecuadorians). I would like to attend their meetings whenever I have time to find out more about Afro-Ecuadorians.
We love where we live in Ecuador (Cebollar). Nice neighborhood near three parks plus a park in our neighborhood. It's nice being near three Panadarías (bakeries) and two Farmacias (pharmacies). Also, a Vetenarian since we have our dog, Lucia, and a shop that repairs clothes and shoes.
Kobe (age 13) loves living in the city (Cuenca) since he doesn't care for the beach. He is doing well playing basketball and doing archery. He still enjoys being on the computer.
I will be visiting Henderson, Nevada and Las Vegas, Nevada mainly for the Las Vegas Belly Dance Intensive and Festival 2015 and the Flamingo Hotel and Casino from August 31st to September 16th.
Randy and Kobe will continue to enjoy being here in Cuenca.
We love not having a car here. Hoping I didn't forget how to drive. I don't miss driving.
Many Ecuadorians here think I'm African since I'm so dark.
We renewed our US passports here in Guayaquil recently at the US consulate. Here in Cuenca, we have to have our Visas transferred over from our old US passports to our new US passports.
Kobe can't apply for Ecuadorian citizenship until he's at least 18. At age 18, he can decide if he wants to apply for Ecuadorian citizenship.
Overall, life is good here.
A Shar-Pei in our neighborhood; front of a dollar coin, the back of a dollar coin (dollar coins are much more common than one dollar bills here in Ecuador); Kobe in the kitchen; Randy with his Chancho a la Barbosa meal; me with my Chancho a la Barbosa meal; a close of of Randy's Chancho a la Barbosa, white rice, and beans; a close of my Chancho a la Barbosa, beans, and salad; my tree tomato juice and Randy's classic Coke; me and twenty-two year old Erika Godoy (waitress); Randy next to the roasted pig used to make Chancho a la Barbosa; Kobe playing with Lucia.
The restaurant photos are at Tabloom Grill (Ecuadorian) in Cuenca.
