Condition Yellow

Where we live is still yellow.  Almost every place in Ecuador is either yellow or red. The only place in Ecuador that is green is the Aguarico Canton (Since Tuesday, May 19th).  It is nice to have a little more freedom.  Masks still have to be worn.  Social distancing still has to be observed.  The curfew is still 5 am to 9 pm every day.  At Supermaxi, temperatures are still taken, names of customers are still being written down, industrial-strength rubbing alcohol is still being sprayed on the front and back of customers.  The direction arrows are still on the floor.  More businesses are beginning to open up but with restrictions.  There is always the fear of going back to red.  We are still healthy.  Randy does not like to go out much because of all of the restrictions.  I don't blame him since Ecuador puts even more restrictions on people ages 60 and older.  My and Kobe's flight to Japan in September has not been canceled which is great news.  We manage to stay content and occupied during these difficult times.

Kobe goes on walks down the road and on our property.  He also plays online games and chats online.  Randy goes for walks on our property and keeps up with current events.  I walk on our property and spend time on the Codeacademy website since I am studying coding and Data Science.  We do have walking on our property in common.  Cooking is another activity we enjoy.  We enjoy cooking breakfast, especially.  Eggs, bacon, potatoes.  I usually add side dishes such as fruit and salad to my breakfast along with a cup of milk...either whole or skim (fat-free).  It is nice to be at home because we don't have to wear a mask or practice social distancing.  Staying isolated will destroy our immune system.  A strong immune system needs very few vaccines.  All I am saying is give our immune system a chance.  It is good that it is not as strict as it used to be because it is nice to have help with the maintenance of our property.

Our employees, Jaime Tamay (Maestro) and Alexander Parra (Alex) are back.  They are allowed to work for us again.  Even though we paid them all along they are happy to be back at work five days a week eight hours a day.  They take some of the workloads off of us.  We are starting a garden and hope to have a specialty crop:  Aloe Vera (Sabila here in Ecuador).  Staying busy keeps us from eating out of boredom and keeps us in shape.  Writing a blog is one way I stay busy.  The most frustrating thing about a blog is not the writing but putting a profile picture on my blog.  Updating my profile picture is not working for me.  At the time of writing this blog, I had no profile picture because of a glitch on this website.  I will update my profile picture when my blog permits me to do so.  We are hoping to visit the coast (Montañita and Manglaralto) in the Guayas Province (which is yellow) sometime next month. May these restrictions do not last too much longer and we get our freedom back...even if we have to demand it.

Randy and our friend and artist, Freddy Rokano (Paute).  He designed the Flat Earth logo on the roof of our stage.  It is the Flat Earth Theater.

This is the Flat Earth logo on the roof of our stage. Freddy did a great job of designing what Randy envisioned.

Clouds over a hill.  SUPERVIVID effect; This is what we see every day in the late afternoon.

Lucy (girl) (front) and Lucky (boy) rear; These dogs of our love to explore.  They return dirty but happy.

This is our new and improved entrance.  Even more, improvements coming soon.

Jaime Tamay (Maestro) (next to the bucket) and Alexander Parra (Alex) (next to the wall) are building our new scenic spot.  The Paute River is nearby but we are above the river.

Kobe and Micaiah (girl).  Micaiah is a sweetheart but she cannot stay away from the neighbors' chickens.  This is why she is in the side yard.  She has plenty of room to roam because of the hills behind our side yard.

I always enjoy looking at these tall trees in the hills on the other side of the Paute River.  This is the view from our scenic spot near the chicken coop.

I spend at least 70% of my time outdoors.  It great to get fresh air and sunshine.  This is why I am so content.
