Downtown (Part 2)
Latest requirements to become a Citizen of Ecuador (by Leif Simon...relayed to me by Malcolm Reding of Cuenca, Azuay, Ecuador): Ecuadorian National.
Randy and Kobe relaxed at home. The one thing Kobe did do was go to the Tienda (small store) near our apartment.
I went for a walk around El Centro (Downtown Cuenca). There was very little activity despite it being Carnaval season. When I went to eat lunch at Cafe Austria, a waiter explained to me that the Canaval celebration is outside of Cuenca (the Coast, Tarqui, Ricaurte, Chordeleg, etc.). The biggest Carnaval celebrations happen in the morning. He also told me that there is supposed to be a parade in El Centro on Monday morning. Randy and I will try to see that parade. Also, eat at a restaurant that is open.
On Tuesday, we plan on traveling to Paute (45 minutes outside Cuenca) to REALLY celebrate Carnaval. We will leave early in the morning because the most celebrating is in the morning. The way for us to get there is on a long distance charter bus from the bus station in Cuenca (Terminal Terrestre). Another option is a city of Cuenca bus tour for $5.00 per person.
If you see photos and videos of it, Randy, Kobe, and/or I did it.
