Cuenca (Taking It All In)
Even after almost three months of living in Cuenca, I still love photographing this wonderful city! To put it in perspective, we've been living almost as long as our Tourist Visa (Passport) would allow us to stay in Ecuador as a visitor. US passports would allow us to visit Ecuador 90 days a year.
With the Pensioner's Visa, we are allow to leave Ecuador 90 days a year. For us, it's December to December...as long as we are Pensioner's (Permanent Residents).
Other Ecuadorian citizenship facts: If a child is born in Ecuador, even if the parents are not citizens or Ecuador, the child is automatically an Ecuadorian citizen.
If a man or women who is not an Ecuadorian citizen marries an Ecuadorian citizen (Gay marriage is not legal in Ecuador...may it be in the foreseeable future), the non Ecuadorian spouse may apply for Ecuadorian citizenship immediately. The non Ecuadorian spouse is does NOT become an Ecuadorian citizen automatically by marrying an Ecuadorian citizen.
